Operating under the jurisdiction of the United States Department of Justice, the FBI is also a member of the U.S. Intelligence Community and reports to both the Attorney General and the Director of National Intelligence.A leading U.S. counter-terrorism, counterintelligence, and criminal investigative organization, the FBI has jurisdiction over violations of more than 200 categories of federal crimes.

미국연방수사국(聯邦搜査局, Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI)은 미국 법무부 산하의 수사 기관이자 정보기관으로서, 범죄 수사와 미국 내의 정보 수집 업무를 담당하고 있다. 1908년에 법무부 검찰국(Bureau of Investigation)으로 발족하였으며 1935년 연방 수사국 (FBI)으로 개칭되었다. 본부는 워싱턴 D.C.에 위치하고 있다. 국내 정보 수집 기관이지만, 범죄의 국제화에 대비해 전 세계적으로 지부를 두고 있으며, 현재 대한민국에도 지부가 있다.
